Returnable Packaging Project
Transformed Plastix solve complex packaging problems for a returnable packaging system.
The project, to design a returnable packaging tray for a motor industry OEM supplier to maximise the available space in a 20 foot container whilst designing the tray to accommodate two different configurations of cast aluminium components. It was essential for the financial viability of the project that this design criterion was achieved.
The machine faces of the casting needed be protected from damage and features of the casting used for location layer to layer to provide stability to each pack of components.
Dense nestability of the trays is also essential for the economic return of the trays.
Although a difficult brief to achieve, Transformed Plastix were able to meet all design challenges and the packaging system is now successfully in use.
